Apron
ĦĦĦĦLoved by Tibetan women, it is mainly pro-duced in Shannan, Xigaze
and Lhasa. The most famous one is produced by Gyaidexiu Township
in Konggar County,
so Gyaidexiu is known as the home of apron. With a history of 600
years, the product not only enjoys fame in the domestic market,
but is also sold to India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Western Europe.
ĦĦĦĦThe apron is an exquisitely woven woolen fabric on bright and
beautiful colors. Sheep's wool is first spun into thread and then
woven into strips after being dyed, to become a semi-fin-ished product.
There are wide and narrow lines both in horizontal pattern.
The wide line is composed of strong contrast color strips featuring
a bold and bright style, while the narrow one constitutes an elegant
and harmonious style with relevant colors. These semi-finished strips
can also be used to decorate clothes, shoes and hats. The apron
is usually worn by married women, but now unmarried women also like
to wear it. During holidays and festival celebrations, they wear
an apron as if be-ing covered by rainbow. It is even more colorful
and beautiful in large groups. In 1980, Gyaidexiu's apron production
reached 17,000 meters, and in 1997, over 210,000 meters.
