Tibetan quilt
ĦĦĦĦIt is an indispensable part of people's lives and also a family
property handed down from generation to generation. Legend goes
that Tibetan quilt began to appear when Princess Wencheng entered
Tibet in 641, and has a his-tory of over 1,000 years. It is said
that Nanggarze is a birthplace of
Tibetan quilt. The quilt is usually divided into four types, namely
twin-, three- and four-threat woven and high-grade quilt, with the
weight in 5kg, 7kg, 8kg and 12.5 kg. The most common one can last
eight years, but a good one can be used for two generations. The
material for high-grade quilt constitutes pure thin wool, very soft
and warm. Generally speaking, Tibetan quilt is fine, clean, even,
soft, high-density, thick and durable and possesses a unique weaving
method.
