North Tibet Plateau Depopulated Zone Scientific Expedition Thursday discovered lammergeiers (Gypaetus barbatus), a kind of rare birds only living on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, in Nam Co, north Tibet. The lammergeier, also named as "sweeper", feeds merely on animal cadavers. There are only about one thousand lammergeiers in China. It is one of the rare bird species on the brink of extinction.
