was a household slave. She said: "My daughter and

Norbu Cering, male, was born in 1945 in Tibet. He is
a son of Padha Zhaxi Wangqug, formerlord of the Padha
Manor., A farmer of Bangior Lhunbo village, Gyangze.
"I married Zholha in 1979, my younger brother fell
in love with my wife and they married too. So, three
of us form a family, we have three sons and we get along
very well. -- I am a son of
Parlha Zhaxiwangqug.

| Lhaba, male, was born into the family of a black smith,
known as "black bone" in old Tibet, in 1959
in Benjor Lhunbo Village, Jangra Township, Gyangze County.

| Galsang Toinzhub, male, was born in 1930 in Banjor Lhunbo
Village, Gyangze County. He was a nangzen slave charged
with attending donkeys for Parlha Zhaxi Wangqug, lord
of the Parlha Manor. Following the Democratic Reform in
1959, he was elected a township chief, director of the
township peasants' association and head of the township
farm. Now retired, he stays at home to look after his

Zhaxi Cering, male, was born in September
1957 in Cilung Township, Zayu County. His father is
of Naxi ethnic group, and his mother of Tibetan ethnic
group. He is a member of the China Association for Fine
Artists, vice-chairman of the Tibet Branch of the China
Association for Fine Artists, executive council member
of the China Council for the Promotion of Fine Arts
of Ethnic Minorities, council member of the Science
Association of Tibet University, member of Tibet University
Affairs Council, and director of and lecturer with the
Department of Art of Tibet University. He teaches oil
painting, sketches and coloring.-- Department

| Gyaiyom Nyima, male, was born in 1962 in Tomxag
Village, Dagyag Township, Qamdo County, Tibet Autonomous

Soinam Cering, male, was born in 1932 in Tibet. He was
a slave of the noble family of Cewang Renzin in Shannan.
Following the end of the Democratic Reform in 1960, he
became a road builder. He has retired to settle in Lugu,

Dawa, male, was born in 1931 in Gyangze, Tibet. He
served in the Tibetan army before the Democratic Reform
in 1959. He deserted when he could not stand the ill-treatment
in the army, and worked as a servant for a serf-owner.
After the Democratic Reform, he served as a road maintenance
worker. He has retired from the post and is now living
in Lhasa.--Story

Tubdain, formerly named Tubdain Gyaincain, male, was
born in 1934 in Lhasa. He is the National First Class
Artist of China. From 1940 to 1954, he was a monk with
the Gongdeling Monastery in Lhasa, where he studied
Buddhist scriptures and learned to perform Tibetan opera.
In 1954, he joined the Tibet Patriotic Youth Association
and the Tibet Art Performance Team. From 1959 to May
1996, he worked for the Lhasa Municipal Ethnic Art Troupe
(later known as the Lhasa Song and Dance Troupe), serving
as its deputy head and later head. Tubdain sued to be
a member of the standing committee of the Lhasa Committee
of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference
and vice-chairman of the Lhasa Association of Literature
and Art, and vice-chairman of the Tibet Association
of Literature and Art. He is now the honorary chief
of the Lhasa Municipal Ethnic Art Troupe, vice-chairman
of the China Association for Balladeers, a member of
the Tibet Association of Literature and Art, and a member
of the standing committee of the CPPCC Tibet Committee.--

Yexei Dainbogyai, male, was born in Lhakang Township,
Lhozha County, Shannan Prefecture. He went to India
in 1967, but has returned to settle down in Tibet in

Qamba Zunzhub, male, was born in December 1948 in Lhasa.
When the Democratic Reform was conducted in Tibet in 1959,
he had been serving as a small lama with the Zhaibung
Monastery for four years. He is now director of the Lhasa
Chengguan District Welfare Handicraft Factory for the
Disabled, and concurrently president of the Lhasa Welfare
Special School.-- My
