and Relations Between the Central Government and Tibet; Status of
Tibet During the Republic of China; and Contribution of the Tibetans
for China's War of Resistence Against the Japanese Invaders. The

Sengba Battle In Tibet
In the 19th century, Dougla (Sengba) Made inroad into Ngari from
Lhadak. A battle was fought between the invaders and the invaded.
Historically it was called Sengba Battle. Qing high commissioner
led the Tibetan troopsand millitia to fight and fefeat the invaders.
Authored by Chen Jiajin, the book is a collectiion of historical
materials in Urdu about the battle. Priced at 22 Yuan per copy,
the book, large 32 mo and running to 197,000 words, has been published
by the China Tibetology Publishing House.
Books On Tibetan Culture
This is a set of three-volume books compiled by Garzang Cedain and
Galsang Ben. The three volumes are: Normadic Culture of the Qinghai-Tibet
Plateau; Festive Culture on the Snowland; and Funeral Culture of
the Tibetan Race. Priced at 10 Yuan Per copy, the three volumes
have been published by the Gansu Nationalities Publishing House.
Volume I runs to 127,000 words, volume II, 150,00 words; and Volume
III, 125,000 words.
Ancient Civilization In Ngari
Recent years saw archaeologists in and outside China show strong
interest in Ngari culture. To cope with their need, Ba Huang, a
noted artist, has compiled a pictorial titled Brilliant Ruins-Ancient
civilization in Tibet's Ngari. For this purpose, Ba Huang went to
Ngari three times. The large 16-mo pictorial, running to 220,000
words, has been published by the Hebei Provincial Education Publishing
House. It is priced at 450 Yuan per copy.
Prolonged Road For Ritual Walkers
Authored by Wen Pulin, this is one of the three-volume book series
on Tibet. The other two books are Holy Land for Buddhists and Living
buddha Bagyia. The book contains the experience of the author in
Tibet and the sur-rounding areas. It provides a good chance for
readers to understand religion, history, culture and folklore of
Tibet and the Tibetan race. The large 32-mo book has been published
by the Tibet People's Publishing House, and is priced at 20 yuan
per copy.
Folk Songs From Gyiacha (Tibetan£©
Compiled by Lhaba Cering, the book contains 1,500 folk songs popular
with residents of gyiacha. They describe farming, livestock breeding,
toasting, love affairs, and rituals. The book has been published
bythe Tibet People's Publishing House.

Authored by Horkang Soinam Benba, a noted Tibetologist, the book
takes in 300 Tibetan sayings treated in accordance with the 30 Tibetan

Compiled by Lobsang Dorje, the book contains knowledge about common
and complicated diseases, and is complete with knowledge about first

Voluem Namru Of King Gesar (Tibetan£©
The book tells how Gesar, acting accordance with the edict from
the Goddess, led troops of the State of Ling to fight Dala Yuzong,
king of Namru, and his grandson Baima Dorje. Through six months
of bloody battles, Gesar won in the end. Priced at 8 Yuan per copy,
the book has been published by the Tibet People's Publishing House.
