Today, June 14th, 2004, China Tibet Information Center presents you our redesigned English website: http://en.tibet.cn. In the spirit of "Taking introducing Tibet to the world and serving Tibet with abundant information as tenent, objectively roundly introducing and showing Tibet's history and reality to the world", after fully considering the reading habit and the requirement of foreign readers, China Tibet Information Center fully redesigned its web on the aspect of both content and form. The redesigned web includes 17 channels, such as News, Culture, History, Religion, Art, Custom, People and Forum, more than 100 columns and more than 20 thousand pictures. The informaton capacity reaches 2.25G. On the aspect of the function of the web, we add a new column named "Zhuoma Online" which is a real-time space for intercourse and mutual understanding between people who love Tibet and us. For the more, the search function on our web is also been ameliorated.

The aim of our center is to build a bridge of intercourse and understanding for foreign and Chinese visitors and become an important window to fully know about Tibet. Therefore, our center associated with publishing, research, teaching, audiovisual and press units concerning Tibet all over China, collected information resources about Tibet and through means like internet, publications and audiovisual manufacture and issuance, fully introduces Tibet to the whole world. The content of the web relates to all the aspects of Tibet like politics, economy, history, culture, tourism and religion, which is the authorized information resource of informations about Tibet.

Since Chinese version of CTIC was launched in May of 2000, the center has presented English and Tibetan versions in succession. In June of 2002 redesigned Chinese version was presented and in the year 2003 news channels of Chinese and English versions were presented. With Chinese and foreign media and leaders of Chinese government paying more and more attention to CTIC, the force of the web is enhancing, the visiting number of the web increases from 500 thousand times of the click rate in 2002 to more than 2 million times and ranks from after No. 18000 in 2002 to before No. 20000 in Alexa.com, World Network Hit Charts. In September of 2003 Tibet Independence web of London kept close watch on the construction of CTIC and made feature-length comment on it. In the largest search engine of the world google and other famous search engine, it is listed forefront. The web and relative topics have already been linked by more than 2600 webs in the world. It has become the most influential web in the field about Tibet on the internet.

In order to better introduce Tibet to the world and serve for the modernization of Tibet, since the year of 2001 CTIC participated in some important activities concerning Tibet, such as the celebrating activity of the 50th anniversary of Tibet's Peace Liberation, National Aid-Tibet Result Exhibition, 2001' Beijing Tibetology Proseminar, Beijing-Lhasa Vehicle Contest, Tibet Century Symphony Concert, Gesar Proseminar, China-Nepal Cultural Intercourse Activity Week and Tibetan Cultural Festival of Califonia, USA. During these activities CTIC provided informatoin and technology, in meanwhile it deeply attracted foreign and Chinese people who love concern about Tibet with its timely, rich and vivid relative web specials and gained strong backwash from them.

Beside participating all kinds of activities, CTIC also organized some influential activities. In April of 2004 CTIC initiated and sponsored "The First Tibetan Internet Cooperation" Conference. More than 20 principals and delegates from Internet units in Tibetan language like Tibetan version of Tibet Channel of Xinhua Agency, China Tibet News Net, Qinghai News Net, Internet Center of Tibet University, Internet Center of Informatoin Research Center of Northwest Natioanlity Institute participated in it. The conference reached a common understanding and recognition of closely cooperation to jointly form a coorperative entirety of Tibetan webs, jointly commit themselves for the technological exploitation of Tibetan internet and realize the communion of net information resources.

Undertaken by "Love Tibet Sodality" of CTIC, two activities 2003' Member Self Driving to Tibet Environmental Protection Journey and Love without Limit, Member Enter Tibet for Love ndowment got great success. 30 members of our "Love Tibet Sodality" participated in it. On the journey the vehicle widely propagandized scientific way to prevent SARS. In Lhasa they donated more than 7000 RMB, more than 500 books, more than 800 stationeries and some clothes to Ji Beng Gang Primary School and Jiesu Danzhen Orphanage. The Love Activities initiated by "Love Tibet Sodality" was concerned and praised by all social fields, and welcomed by relative departments. CTIC's influence is continuously extending.
