Congratulatory Message from Mei Ping,
Ambassador of tje People's Republic of China to Canada

It give me great pleasure to see the China Tibetan Culture Week opened in Canada, the beautiful country of maple leaves, in this golden season of autumn. I wish to extend, on behalf of my colleagues at the Chinese Embassy and in my own name, our warm congratulations on this event.
Tibet, a shining pearl on the splendid land of China, is renowned as the "roof of the world" with rivers and mountains of enchanting charm and beauty. The industrious and ingenious Tibetan people have created their magnificent culture in the long process of historical development. In addition, they have written a new chapter of rapid and comprehensive development in the economic, social, cultural, educational, science and technological fields during the half-century of modernization drive since Tibet's peaceful liberation and Democratic Reform in 1950S.
The Chinese Government has always attached great importance to the preservation and development of the cultural heritage of Tibet and given tremendous support for the economic development and other undertakings in Tibet. Today, the Tibetan people, full of confidence and with a strong sense of pride, devote themselves to building an even brighter future for Tibet.
I believe that this event, which offers an excellent opportunity for the Canadian people to learn more about the real Tibet and its vitality, will make positive contributions to the promotion of Sino-Canada cultural exchanges as well as the friendship between the two peoples.
Finally, I wish to take this opportunity to express my compliments to the talented Tibetan artists and the delegation members as well as the friends from the Chinese communities in Canada and other circles who have worked so make this event a reality.

May the China Tibetan Cultural Week be crowned with a complete success.
