Tibet Autonomous Region International Culture Association,
The Canadian National Organizing Committee of China Tibetan culture
Week,
On the occasion of the forthcoming China Tibetan culture Week in
Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver, I would like, on behalf of the consulate
general of the People's Republic of China in Toronto, to extend
my warm congratulations.
China is a united multi-ethnic country with 56 nationalities. Each
nationality enjoys equality, unity, mutual assistance and common
development. As an ethnic minority of the great multi-ethnic Chinese
nation, the Tibetans have long developed a fine tradition of courage,
industriousness and wisdom and created a brilliant culture in the
evolutionary process of history, and contributed significantly to
the enrichment of Chinese cultural treasures.
Since its founding, especially since the reform and opening up to
the outside world, the Tibet Autonomous Region has made remarkable
progress in the fields of economy, science and technology, education
and culture. The Tibetan people's living standards has improved
rapidly. The Chinese government has consistently attached great
importance to the preservation and promotion of Tibetan ethnic culture,
opening a broad vista for its further development and prosperity
day by day.
The China Tibetan culture Week will provide an excellent opportunity
for the Canadian people to have a glimpse of the pure and splendid
Tibetan art and culture as well as Tibet's unique and charming folk
customs. I am confident that the China Tibetan Culture Week will
further contribute to the mutual understanding and friendship between
out two peoples.
I sincerely wish the China Tibetan Culture Week a great success!
