Tibetan Culture Week Ends in Brussels
The China Tibetan Culture Week, organized by the China International
Culture Association and Foreign Cultural Exchange Association of
the Tibet Autonomous Region, ended here on Sunday.
The culture week, which was officially opened on Monday, included
a nine-day-long photo and thangka exhibition, song and dance performances,
exchange of expertise between Tibetologists, Living Buddhas and
scholars in Belgium, as well as films with Tibetan themes.
Some 2,000 people including dignitaries went to see the photo and
thangka exhibition and the performances. Many of them were deeply
impressed by the unique features of the culture on the "Roof
of the World".
The culture week provided a rare opportunity to help people get
a comprehensive and objective picture of what has been happening
in Tibet.
During their stay in Brussels, the four Tibetologists and Living
Buddhas answered questions from the European parliamentarians and
some local scholars about social changes, economic reforms, environment
protection and religious freedom in Tibet.
The culture week is the first of its kind held in Europe. The Chinese
delegation will leave for Canada on Monday to hold another culture
week with similar contents in North America in the coming weeks.
