The reserve is located at the
southeast corner of the Tibetan Plateau, at the juncture
of two parts of the Himalaya Mountain Range. Its aim is
to protect the subtropical evergreen latifoliate forest,
rare subtropical animals and the high-yield Yunnan pine
forest. It is warm and humid, with a great variety of
species and a relatively complete forest ecological system.
| The reserve consists of the Ciba
Gully Nature Reserve, Shuzhub Village Nature Reserve
and Lhamo Lungba Nature Reserve. No people live
there. The Ciba Gully Nature Reserve is for protecting
the natural ecological system, Yaozhu Village Nature
Reserve is for protecting high-yield tropical primitive
coniferous forest. The forest of Yunnan pine trees
has an intact primitive landscape, with a regular
forest. The total stock volume of trees is about
200,000 cubic meters, an average of over 1,200 cubic
meters per hectare. Various growth factors are four
to five times of the counterparts in other places
of China. The Lhamo Lungba Gully Nature Reserve
is for protecting the subtropical evergreen latifoliate
forest. The primitive forest landscape is well preserved
here. It is a haunt of rare wild animals, such as
the Bangladesh tiger, bear, leopard, pangolin, golden

vulture and python. Before the reserve was established,some
hunters used to frequent thearea, which resulted in the
reduction of rare, wild animals.With the establishment
of the reserve, hunting has been stopped, and the population
of wild animals has increased. |
