Q: Is it true that, as declared by the Dalai Lama, 1.2 million Tibetan people
were killed after the peaceful liberation of Tibet? |
|
A: No. This is a lie concocted by the Dalai clique. According to a census conducted
by the central government of the Qing Dynasty during 1734 to 1736, the whole population
of Tibet was 941, 200. In 1953 the local government of Tibet headed by the Dalai
Lama reported that the local population was 1 million. The whole Tibetan population
would have been wiped out if 1.2 million people were killed after the peaceful
liberation of Tibet in 1951. It is an undeniable fact that the economy and
society of Tibet have undergone marked progress since the peaceful liberation
of Tibet, especially since the democratic reform in 1959, when serfdom was abolished.
With the constant improvement in health care and living standards of Tibetan people,
the long stagnant population growth of Tibet has seen a sharp increase. According
to the fifth national census in 2000, the population of Tibet was 2.6163 million,
with Tibetan people accounting for 92.2 percent. | |
